In September 2015, 193 UN member states, including Poland, signed the 2030 Agenda under which 17 Sustainable Development Goals were defined. Putting their signatures under the Agenda, individual countries undertook to support the implementation of the Goals.
In December 2019, the European Commission adopted the European Green Deal, a new strategy aimed at transforming the European Union into a fair and prosperous society and a modern, resource-efficient and competitive economy that will achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
- WHAT DOES IT MEAN? -
Individual countries that signed the 2030 Agenda have committed to support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. The 17 Goals not only set the priorities of government actions, but also indicate areas in which business involvement and dedication are expected.
The implementation of the European Green Deal requires the preparation and gradual implementation of further EU regulations that will support the achievement of goals defined in the European strategy, but they will also require a significant transformation of business, in virtually all sectors.
